A NOTE BEFORE YOU START

A calendar slot represents more than the minutes spent in a conversation. Preparation, notes and the transition to other work all take time. Set your availability around that full commitment, and describe each session clearly enough that a participant can decide whether it is the right use of the time.

KEEP THESE IN MIND

A thoughtful way forward.

Begin with a limited window

Offer a small amount of time you can reliably protect. You can add availability after learning how much preparation and follow-up the sessions require, rather than filling every apparent gap immediately.

Use buffers and notice deliberately

A buffer creates space between bookings, while minimum notice prevents unsuitable last-minute requests. A booking window keeps people from reserving times farther ahead than you can reasonably commit.

Make the purpose specific

Explain what the session covers and what the participant should prepare. A focused description helps people arrive with the right question and avoids turning a short meeting into an undefined obligation.

YOUR NEXT THREE STEPS

Take it one step at a time.

You can start with something small, then shape it as you go.

  1. 01

    Map the whole commitment

Choose a duration and include the preparation and recovery time it needs. Check your existing responsibilities before deciding which parts of the week can be made available.

  2. 02

    Configure the boundaries

Set availability, buffers, notice and the booking window. Review displayed times carefully, especially when the people you expect to meet may be in different time zones.

  3. 03

    Review after a few sessions

Notice whether the duration and preparation are realistic. Adjust the future schedule and use cancellation or rescheduling actions when a confirmed commitment needs to change.

A LITTLE MORE CLARITY

Good questions.

Looking for something else? Visit our help center.

How large should a buffer be?

Choose it from the actual transition and preparation work you need. There is no single interval that fits an introductory chat and a detailed working session equally well.

Should I share a personal number in the description?

Only if you intentionally want it available to that audience. Prefer appropriate private meeting details when a public description does not need personal contact information.
